Common renovation questions

How does the renovation process work?

The process starts with a consultation, followed by a walkthrough and estimate. Once the scope and required approvals are clear, construction is coordinated through build and handover.

Does my renovation need a DOB permit?

It depends on the scope. Your architect or registered design professional can confirm whether a filing is required and what type applies. Some limited cosmetic work may not need a permit; work affecting building systems or layout often needs review.

How do co-op and condo approvals work?

Requirements vary by building. The board, managing agent, or building architect may review drawings, scope, insurance documents, deposits, work hours, and logistics before work begins.
